The latest news: Cancer exceeds Heart disease as being one of the leading causes of death in almost half of the United States.
Since 2016, cancer has formally
exceeded heart disease as the main cause of death, in 22 states, stated by the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention.
Keeping in mind that, in the entire
population of the United States, heart disease is still the main cause of
death. The deaths from cancer have stayed more or less constant over the years.
Whereas, the number of deaths from heart disease have slowly continued to
decline over the years. This gives a proper explanation for the reason that
cancer is catching up with heart disease over the last sixteen years. However,
cardiovascular diseases stay leading in the Southeast, as statistics from the
last few years specify.
Another reason that has added to
the present day decline of heart disease is the rise in medical advancements to
deal with heart disease, as well as rising awareness about the risks involved
with heart disease. This has a perceptive effect on the rate of heart disease
all over the country.
From achieving improved knowledge about the
symptoms of heart disease, so that they may be treated at the initial time, to mounting
the options for treatment at hospitals and clinics. As well as awareness about
the costs of obesity and smoking, increases your risk of heart disease. All of
these factors have together helped to reduce the occurrence of death and
complications because of heart disease, leading to an overall decline.
With cancer however, uncovering the
disease and its symptoms is a lot more difficult and therefore the disease
grows a lot faster and discovery at a much later time limits the patient’s
prevention and treatment options. The procedures therefore, used for cancer
have less of an impact, especially when the role of genes is considered.
