Do the Fitness Applications present on our Smartphones actually work? are they as effective as they claim to be?
In today’s world, one of the major problems we all face is
fighting against obesity and maintaining our physical health. Considering the
age of technology at a rise, many smart-phone applications have been created to
assist us in the process of losing weight. They all claim to be modified to
suit each human beings separate needs and weight loss goals. However, the
question tends to arise- Are they really that effective?
According to a research undertaken, it was claimed that only
0.5% of the weight-loss apps that have been created and are available on the
Google PlayStore or Apple App Store are actually owned by a certified Health organization
or university. With this claim it can be understood that they should not be
easily trusted.
However, it is true that the psychological effect that these
apps tend to hold may have some positive effects on our health too. Considering
that, people tend to use their Smartphone’s 24 hours 7 days a week. They are
actually more a part of our lives than we can imagine. Therefore, these Fitness
apps can act like a reminder to us to always keep our fitness in mind. They may
also give us the chance to feel good about ourselves, and the more positive you
feel about your weight, it has been researched that, the more you are actually
likely to lose weight.
Whenever you download a Fitness app, keep in mind that it is
not an excuse to lay on the sofa the entire day. You obviously cannot lose weight just by being a couch potato. Rather, download it with a
positive mindset. Thinking that, you will actually change your daily routine
and inculcate exercise and proper eating habits into it, too. This way, the
apps can actually prove to be more effective than they really are.
