All you need to about diabetes. What is diabetes? what are the symptoms? What is the Diagnosis?
What is diabetes?
Diabetes is an illness that stops the body from using energy
appropriately from food. Diabetes happens when the pancreas does not produce
insulin, or when it produces it, yet it is not used by the body.
You may have heard about diabetes, but most people don't
know what it is exactly. Whenever we go through the process of eating, our food
is broken down into glucose or sugar. Although many health experts claim that
too much sugar isn’t good for you, it is an undeniable fact that sugar is an
important part of our diet’s, as it helps in regulating our metabolism and
providing us with energy.
Also, during the process of digestion, the glucose moves
through our body into the bloodstream to nourish our cells. Our body needs
insulin to be able to transfer the Blood sugar into the cells. This Insulin is
produced by the Pancreas, before it is unconstrained into the bloodstream.
The setback however, takes place when you have an excessive
amount of blood sugar in your body as compared to the amount of insulin your
pancreas is producing and releasing.
If your body does not make enough insulin to keep up with
the amount of sugar in your bloodstream, or if your body is having difficulty
in making insulin, the glucose in the blood stays there and causes your blood
sugar levels to rise. If this continues to happen, even after you’ve been monitoring
your diet, this in turn means that you will develop diabetes.
The Diagnosis of Diabetes
A physician will identify the standard symptoms of type 1
diabetes without problems and order the proper blood, urine and insulin tests.
These tests are very simple and there will be no pain involved. Also, they will
conventionally give an entire examination and conclusion in a very short period
of time. Though Type 1 diabetes is often called juvenile diabetes it actually
can occur at any age, and is most frequently diagnosed before the age of 20.
These are some of the primary symptoms that will lead to a
patient in quest of a medical test, and ultimately lead to a proper diagnosis
of type 1 diabetes. Other common indicators which may appear are weight loss,
abdominal pain and nausea.
